Indiana translates to “Land of the Indians,” and its capital is Indianapolis. Residents of the state are referred to as “Hoosiers,” also the mascot for southern Indiana’s Indiana University. Being part of the Corn Belt, Indiana’s economy is sustained largely by agricultural and dairy farms. Manufacturing and mining are also primary industries in the state.
