North Carolina is a Southern state in the United States with a history that precedes the U.S. Constitution. North Carolina was one of the thirteen colonies to rebel against British rule in the American Revolution. North Carolina is bordered on the West by the Smoky Mountains (part of the Appalachian Mountains) and on the East by the Atlantic Ocean. North Carolina’s economy is chiefly dependent on agricultural and industrial outputs (such as tobacco, poultry, eggs, electrical equipment and machinery). North Carolina is also the nation’s largest film making state, aside from California. Film and TV programs made in the state include: Cape Fear, One Tree Hill, and Dawson’s Creek.
