New Mexico is found in the Southwestern part of the United States. The state was once a province of Mexico and today has the highest percentage of Latino people in the country; both English and Spanish are official languages of the state. New Mexico’s unique cultural mix also includes a strong Native American Indian influence, with a Native American population of more than 134,000 (which includes a large Navajo, Apache and Pueblo presence). The tranquil climate, breath taking panoramas, and rich cultural history attract Americans all year round. Millions of acres of beautiful New Mexico are federally protected as national forests and monuments. Santa Fe is home to a thriving community of artists, galleries, writers and performers.
